DANCE WORLD CUP 2013 COMES TO BRIGHTON

Dance World Cup began ten years ago in Germany – it has been hosted by many Countries: Canada, Jersey, France, Austria, Poland, Ukraine, Portugal and now England. It is an international dance competition involving children and young adults from across the world. During February to March each year the Countries hold qualifier heats – the winners all go on to represent their Country at Dance World Cup Finals – this huge event will take place at The Dome theatre in Brighton 1-6 July 2013.

Team Malaysia and dancers from Team England – local dancers from A2Arts Performing Arts Academy

DWC begins with a parade of all the Teams waving their Countries flag with a band playing the national anthems of each Country, this will take place on Monday 1 July in Pavilion Gardens. There will be a Mayoral reception and the Team Leaders will be presented to the Mayor to officially open the Dance World Cup 2013.  The week ends with a Gala performance by the gold medalists from each Country and one Country will be awarded the Dance World Cup. The mayor of Portugal will then accept the flag to host DWC in Portugal in 2014.

Dance world cup is working closely with Brighton & Hove County Council to put on this event. We have invited local school children to come along and watch this exciting dance spectacular in Brighton and give them an opportunity to support a Country and meet the dancers. The 2,500 dancers are from all over the world including Japan, South Africa, Ukraine, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, USA, Canada as well as a huge team from England. They will see many different dance styles including: street dance, national, ballet, tap, song and dance and modern. It will be an extremely colourful extravaganza of dance. The event is open to the public and tickets to watch will be available each day from the Dome box office.
